Data Analyst, Mapping

Toronto

At Lyft, our mission is to serve and connect people. We begin by fostering an open, inclusive, and diverse community within our own organization.

As a Data Analyst on the Mapping team, you’ll work alongside a world-class team of engineers, product managers, and designers to enhance the quality of recommended routes and improve the accuracy of travel time estimates. We’re seeking a motivated and passionate Data Analyst who is eager to explore spatial data and contribute to building a top-tier mapping product that ensures safe, efficient, and seamless navigation for our rideshare drivers.

Our team thrives on cross-functional collaboration, working closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Data Science. You’ll use data and analytical thinking to shape our mapping products and make customer-focused business decisions. This includes identifying opportunities, setting priorities, and measuring the impact of new features. You’ll tackle some of the most critical challenges in mapping, such as:

  • What defines a high-quality route?

  • How can we enhance map data to improve route recommendations?

  • Are we meeting our travel time estimation commitments to customers?

  • How do we benchmark and measure the success of our services?

As a key member of the Mapping Science team, you’ll lead various workstreams, analyses, modeling, and strategy development to drive the growth of the Lyft ecosystem at scale. You’ll collaborate across teams, synthesizing input from stakeholders to deliver insights and actionable recommendations that influence business and product decisions.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in management consulting, operations, strategic data science/analytics roles in tech, or equivalent roles in high-growth startups.

  • Degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, applied math, operations research, or engineering (advanced degrees are a plus).

  • Proficiency in SQL, with the ability to analyze large datasets and integrate data from multiple sources.

  • Experience in programming, particularly with data science and analytics libraries in Python or R.

  • Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to present recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Expertise in data visualization tools to deliver actionable insights and reusable frameworks.

  • Strong product sense and understanding of user experience.

  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and inspire in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and attention-to-detail skills.

  • A balance of intellectual curiosity and a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset.

  • Experience with ETL pipelines and online experimentation is a plus.

  • Comprehensive health, dental, life, and disability insurance options.

  • Mental health and family-building benefits.

  • Childcare and pet care support.

  • Access to a Lyft-funded Health Care Savings Account.
