I’m a passionate Vocational Educator in the field of ICT who derives great fulfillment in making technology fun and easy for learners. I have over 15 years’ experience in this field and I have taught diverse students across different ages and gender. I employ a creative, incisive and adaptive approach. I can adapt my training methodology to different learner types that will effectively cater for individual differences. For technical and abstract subjects like coding, I make the students comfortably settle into a class session by not making it sound technical from the beginning. I often bring up real world analogies for abstract ideas so that from the very start, the learner will start having a vivid image of what is being taught in his or her mind. My approach is practical hands on with practical exercises accompanying different stages of the learning. This helps in the retention of the concepts passed across to the students. I will often seek feedback from the students to ensure there are no gaps in understanding. My general approach is to arouse interest, ignite curiosity and to get the student glued throughout the duration of the class. I see the tutoring process as an art of continuous dialogue with the learner; so, I continually will engage them and ensure they express themselves from time to time by asking probing questions or quizzing them to assess their level of understanding at a point in time. I’ve been involved in computer-based tutoring since 2006 and been involved in online tutoring within the last seven years. I’ve effectively handled courses in computer programming (with Java and Python), web development (with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and PHP), desktop publishing (with MS Office and Adobe Creative Cloud). I have experiences in other technologies within the software domain of ICT.
