Launch Your Career in Drone Software Engineering

Autonomous flight is a software problem. This program teaches you the autopilot stack, ROS 2, state estimation and simulation - so you can make an aircraft fly a mission on its own.

Program Summary

Drone software engineering is the work of making an aircraft fly a mission without someone holding the sticks. This program builds a practical foundation in that work: how an autopilot is structured, how state is estimated from noisy sensors, how ROS 2 nodes coordinate perception and control, and how everything is tested in simulation long before it is trusted in the air.

Alongside the technical modules, the program includes hands-on labs and a virtual internship. You will run a full autopilot in simulation, write ROS 2 nodes, tune an estimator, build a mission planner with geofencing and failsafes, and finish with project work you can show to an employer.

Your Educational Path

Run a full autopilot in software-in-the-loop with Gazebo, and fly an autonomous mission before any hardware is at risk.

Fuse IMU, GPS and barometer into a state estimate, then show what happens to the aircraft when one of them lies.

Implement geofencing and failsafe logic, then deliberately break the link and prove the aircraft does the safe thing.
