Launch Your Career in GNSS Engineering

A phone says it knows where it is to within five metres, and a tractor says two centimetres. The difference is engineering. Our program gives you a structured path into satellite navigation, from acquiring and tracking real signals to RTK baselines, sensor fusion and the error budgets that let you state an accuracy and defend it.

Program Summary

GNSS engineering is the discipline of turning faint signals from orbit into a position you can trust. This program builds a practical foundation in that work: how a receiver acquires and tracks a satellite, how pseudorange and carrier phase observables produce a solution, where the ionosphere, multipath and clock errors actually bite, and how differential techniques take a metre-level fix down to centimetres.

Alongside the technical modules, the program includes hands-on labs and a virtual internship. You will process real RINEX observations, build positioning code in Python, run RTK baselines, fuse GNSS with inertial data, and finish with project work you can show to an employer.

Dr. Emily Carter

Department of Satellite Systems & Operations

Dr. Emily Carter is a mentor in satellite systems and operations at Refonte Learning, where she guides learners across the satellite engineering and observation programs. Her work spans signal processing, positioning and the error analysis that decides whether an accuracy claim holds up, and she helps learners connect navigation theory to the realities of validating a receiver in the field.

Your Educational Path

Acquire and track real GNSS signals from raw samples, then take pseudorange observables through to a least-squares position fix.

Work through where accuracy is actually lost, then use differential techniques, RTK and PPP to bring a solution down to centimetres.

Fuse GNSS with inertial data through a Kalman filter, detect interference and spoofing, and validate the accuracy you claim.

Frequently Asked Questions

What career opportunities does this course provide?

Graduates target GNSS Engineer, Navigation Engineer and PNT Engineer roles. Hiring spans automotive and autonomous vehicles, correction-service providers, surveying and drones, so the market is not limited to defence and is open to international candidates.

Do I need my own GNSS receiver for this course?

No. The labs run on public RINEX archives and recorded signal samples. If you do own a low-cost u-blox receiver you can log your own data, but nothing you are assessed on requires hardware.

Is this course suitable for beginners?

It suits learners with some engineering or technical grounding. No navigation background is required, but you should be comfortable with basic Python and linear algebra, since positioning is solved numerically throughout.

Will I receive a certification upon completion?

Yes, a Refonte Learning certificate of completion for your resume and LinkedIn. It is not an industry certification exam.

Can I take this course while working full-time?

Yes. It requires 10-12 hours per week, all live sessions are recorded, and the processing environments are available on demand.
