Launch Your Career in Robotics Perception Engineering
A robot can only act on what it can perceive. This program teaches you cameras, lidar, calibration, SLAM and detection - the pipeline that turns raw sensor noise into a decision.

Program Summary
Robotics perception is the work of turning sensor data into a usable understanding of the world. This program builds a practical foundation in that work: how cameras and lidar are calibrated and fused, how features and point clouds are processed, how a robot localises and maps at the same time, and how detection and tracking feed a decision the robot can act on.
Alongside the technical modules, the program includes hands-on labs and a virtual internship. You will calibrate a sensor rig, process point clouds, run a SLAM pipeline on real datasets, train and evaluate a detector, and finish with project work you can show to an employer.

Educational Mentors

PhD Matthias Schmidt
Department of Data Engineering
Leveraging his deep-rooted knowledge as a senior data engineer, Matthias Schmidt plays a pivotal role in shaping our Data Engineering Training & Internship program. With a remarkable 16-year background in computer science, he excels in diverse domains such as sophisticated regression analysis, algorithmic design for enhancing customer loyalty, financial econometrics, and quantitative risk forecasting. His proficiency extends to harnessing big data solutions tailored for banking and financial services, making him an invaluable mentor in the field of data engineering.
Your Educational Path
Calibrate a camera and align it to a lidar, because every perception result downstream is only as good as the extrinsics you started with.
Run a SLAM pipeline on public robotics datasets, then diagnose where and why it loses track instead of accepting the trajectory.
Train a detector, evaluate it honestly with precision and recall, and analyse the failures rather than reporting the best run.
